Demetrious Johnson made his MMA debut on the 28th of April, 2007 in a promotion called AX Fighting Championship.

He took on Brandon Fieds and earned a knockout victory just 17 seconds into his debut. In a year, Johnson went 5-0 up in his MMA career, with four wins coming in AX FC.

Johnson brought up another string of 5 victories in a row, earning him a chance in WEC. His WEC debut didn’t go as planned, as he succumbed to a unanimous decision loss against Brad Pickett.

Following victories over Nick Pace and Damacio Page, Johnson moved to the UFC. He made his UFC debut in February 2011 against Norifumi Yamamoto at UFC 126, winning via. unanimous decision.

In October 2011, Johnson fought Dominick Cruz for the bantamweight title, and lost via. unanimous decision.

The UFC introduced the flyweight division, and Johnson took on Ian McCall in UFC Flyweight Tournament Semi-Final. The first fight ended in a draw, with the rematch being won by Johnson.

Johnson then moved to the flyweight final, and took on Joseph Benavidez for the flyweight title. He won the fight via. a narrow split decision to become the inaugural flyweight champion. (September 22, 2012)

‘Mighty Mouse’ stitched a string of title defenses, that included two victories over John Dodson, a rematch win over Benavidez, a TKO win over the great Henry Cejudo.

After 11 consecutive title defenses, Johnson ultimately lost the title to Cejudo in a rematch – a narrow split decision loss.

Following his loss, Johnson moved to the ONE Championship, and made his debut on the 31st of March, 2019 against Yuya Wakamatsu. He won the fight via. a second-round submission.

He then won his next two fights, that same year. And, on the 7th of April, 2021, Johnson was knocked out for the first time in his MMA career at ONE on TNT 1, when he faced Adriano Moraes.
