Demon Slayer gained immense acclaim when it became the highest-grossing anime film of 2019, leaving its fans eagerly awaiting more answers about when and where they could watch its second season. Today they have some more information regarding this matter.
Koyoharu Gotouge’s beloved manga will return for another season and be simulcast globally. Animation studio Ufotable returns, while singer Aimer will record fast-paced opening and closing themes.
Cast
Demon Slayer quickly rose to stardom following its 2019 premiere, breaking Japanese box office records with 26 episodes and the 2020 feature film respectively. Much of its success can be attributed to its masterfully animated fight sequences which won rave reviews from critics as well as trending on social media. Production studio Ufotable, best known for their work on Fate series anime adaptations, will return for Demon Slayer season 2 development.
Natsuki Hanae will reprise her role of Tanjiro, Hiro Shimono as Zenitsu and Yoshitsugu Matsuoka will take their roles back as Inosuke. Additionally, members from Hashira’s leading group – high-ranking demon fighters that comprise the Demon Slayer Association – will reprise their parts.
The main cast will be joined by many new characters when the Entertainment District arc premieres on December 5th and tasks Tanjiro with a dangerous mission involving both familiar adversaries as well as some surprising allies. Furthermore, LiSA returns as singer of Gurenge theme song while Japanese musician Aimer has recorded both Zankyosanka and Asa ga kuru tracks by Aimer (Billboard Japan reports). Release Date
Fans have long demanded a second season of Demon Slayer, and it appears the time may finally have come. Since its premiere five years ago, its popularity has skyrocketed into one of Japan’s most beloved anime franchises. A movie adaptation has even made headlines in Japan’s film history as being “Demon Slayer: Mugen Train.”
Its success can be largely attributed to its relatable characters and themes, such as family love and the universal longing for an ordinary, straightforward existence. Furthermore, its exquisitely animated fight scenes have gained widespread praise online; for instance, one such battle from episode 19 made waves shortly after its premiere in 2021.
Studio Ufotable, responsible for both the anime series and movie versions of Demon Slayer, will once more work their magic on this new season of Demon Slayer. Their production team composed both songs ‘Zankyosanka’ for opening theme song and ‘Asa ga kuru’ as an ending theme, respectively; in fact, both will appear as part of the soundtrack alongside a faster-paced version of opening sequence animation sequences.
The new season will pick up where the movie left off, with Tanjiro and Nezuko joining Flame Pillar Kyojuro Rengoku on a mission to Yoshiwara, Japan’s red-light district. Additionally, viewers will gain insight into Hashira society as well as meet Tengen Uzui of Sound Pillar who can manipulate sound through her fingertips.
