Deontay Wilder is an American professional boxer, who held the WBC heavyweight title from 2015 to 2020. The 34-year-old goes by the nickname of ‘The Bronze Bomber’, having won the Bronze medal in the heavyweight division at the 2008 Olympics.
Wilder is known for his punching power, having knocked out each opponent he has faced till date, barring Tyson Fury.
He is a two-time winner of the Premier Boxing Champions Knockout of the Year award, in 2016 and 2017, and the winner of the Ring magazine Knockout of the Year award in 2019.

Wilder is one of the rare athletes who entered the professional boxing scenes after having made his name in the Olympics. Having won Bronze in the Beijing Games in 2008, the 34-year-old made his pro-boxing debut in the same year against Ethan Cox.
Wilder won his first heavyweight title – the vacant WBC Continental Americas title, in 2012, defeating Kelvin Price in Los Angeles, California. He defended the title successfully against Siarhei Liakhovich and Nicolai Firtha.
In 2015, Wilder won the WBC Heavyweight title, defeating Bermane Stiverne. In doing so, he became the first American world heavyweight champion in nine years, which was the longest period of time in boxing history without an American heavyweight champion.
He went on to defend the title against the likes of Eric Molina, Chris Arreola, Gerald Washington and Luis Ortiz. His winning streak was brought to a halt by Tyson Fury in 2018, with their bout ending in a draw. He then went on to defeat Dominic Breazeale and Luis Ortiz last year.
In February earlier this year, Wilder lost his first fight to “The Gypsy King” Fury in Nevada and lost the WBC title.

Deontay Wilder was born in Tuscaloosa, Alabama to Deborah (mother) and Gary Wilder (father). He dreamed of playing either basketball or football for his hometown University of Alabama Crimson Tide, but had to give up on it and take up boxing when he was aged 20.
The 34-year-old’s younger sibling, Marsellos Wilder, is also a professional boxer, who fights in the cruiserweight division. He has two other siblings, but not much is publicized about them.
Wilder has eight children from four different women. His eldest daughter, Naieya, was born in 2005 to former girlfriend Helen Duncan. He was three children with Jessica Scales-Wilder, whom he married in 2009, but later divorced.
The Bronze Bomber is currently engaged to Telli Swift, Wags TV Star and Model, whom he has a child with as well. The couple have a daughter.
