Wolves Opinion: Why Giovanni Simeone will be a good fit for Nuno’s Wolves

Mexican forward Raul Jimenez has been one of the best players for the Wolverhampton Wanderers side that has punched above their weight in the Premier League after achieving promotion last year.

Jimenez has enjoyed a fantastic debut season in English soil, bagging 12 goals and six assists in 30 league games so far. He was in action for Wolves against Chelsea away at Stamford Bridge on Sunday afternoon. The Mexican again impressed with his hold-up play and scored in the 1-1 draw with Chelsea.

Drafted in on loan from Benfica, the 27-year-old has been nothing short of a revelation for Nuno Espirito Santo’s side. And AS reports that Wolves have an arrangement to outright sign him for €41million euros.

Signing Jimenez permanently has to be one of Nuno’s priorities ahead of the next season given the impact he has had in his maiden season in the Premier League. But if Wolves are to live up to the renewed expectations of the fans next term, Nuno needs to add another striker to his ranks.

To put things into perspective, the Midlands club should make a summer swoop for Fiorentina forward Giovanni Simeone.

Giovanni Simeone, 23, joined Fiorentina from fellow Italian club Genoa in 2017. Actually, he arrived in Italy from Argentinian club River Plate in the summer of 2016 and after initially taking time to adapt to the demands of the Serie A, the 23-year-old has now become one of the promising centre-forwards in the nation.

The Argentinian international has performed well this season, scoring six goals and adding a further seven assists in 30 games across all competitions. Simeone’s style of play and attributes make him tailor-made for the Premier League.

Simeone is an exciting striker, known for his pace, power and eye for goal. A tenacious and hard-working player, the 23-year-old never shies away from giving 100% on the pitch and often drops into midfield in order to bring his teammates into the game.

The Argentine is not only a goal-scorer but also links up play well and creates plenty of opportunities for fellow forwards to feast upon. Simeone isn’t a prolific centre-forward yet but with proper management and guidance can become a world-beater in the next few years.

Conclusion

Age is certainly on Simeone’s side and if Wolves are to make waves in the Europa League next season, they need a striker that can bring the best out of Jimenez and hit the ground running when the Mexican striker is unable to play.

Simeone certainly could be that player and hence, Wolves should go all out to land him in the summer.
