Should Manchester United reignite their interest in David Brooks?
According to Wales Online, Manchester United target David Brooks is said to be keen on a return to the Premier League. The Bournemouth winger, who was linked to Manchester United in the summer, ended up getting relegated with Bournemouth.

David Brooks is a 23-year-old Welsh winger who plays for Bournemouth. It is to be noted that Brooks started his youth career in Manchester City’s academy in 2004. He stayed with them for 10 years before moving to Sheffield United’s academy.
He went out on loan to Halifax town in 2015 but couldn’t get many games under his belt. It was only in 2017 at Sheffield United that he got a good run in the side. He managed to rack up 33 games that season.
In 2018, he joined AFC Bournemouth and was one of the best performers that season. However, an ankle injury kept him out for most of the 2019-20 season as he missed 33 games (source – Transfermarkt).
So far, he has racked up close to 50 appearances for the Cherries, scoring 8 goals and assisting another 5 (source – Transfermarkt). Brooks played for England until the U-20s level but switched to Wales after that. He is now a part of the Welsh senior side with 12 appearances and one goal so far.
Why Manchester United should avoid a move for David Brooks
Brooks is a very talented player and even plays in a position that Manchester United need players in. His versatility of playing as a second striker and attacking midfielder does add to the appeal. But Manchester United should still look in the other direction for various factors.
First and foremost, they have already recruited two young and expensive youngsters Amad Diallo and Facundo Pellistri. Spending on a player in the same bracket does not sound logical. Secondly, the club needs an established player on the right wing.

David Brooks isn’t the player Manchester United need at this point. He does fit the category of signings the club have made in recent seasons but this is one transfer they can do without. Instead, the club should look to focus on defensive reinforcements in January and pursue other targets in the summer.
