The developers of Destiny 2 have revealed the upcoming plans for the game. Here is everything you need to know about the Destiny 2 vault content.
Bungie announced last year that Destiny 2 would have a new feature called the Destiny Content Vault (DCV). This is a system that would gradually remove some parts of Destiny 2 over time, rather than keeping everything playable at all times. According to the company, the Vault is required so that fresh content can be added without the game becoming unmanageably large. Bungie transferred Mars, Io, Titan, Mercury, the Leviathan, and pretty much all of their associated material into the Vault when it first went live at the start of Destiny 2 Year 4.
Bungie’s website today explained that the next batch of material for the DCV will be released next year on February 22, 2022, coinciding with the release of the game’s planned expansion, The Witch Queen. One raid and three PVP maps will be added to the vault from both Destiny 2 and the original Destiny 2. In addition, the Forsaken expansion’s campaign tasks will be added to the DCV.
New content for Destiny 2
The main reason that the developers have highlighted for this move is to make more space for the upcoming The Witch Queen Update. The blog post released by Bungie said that “Vaulting this content will allow us the space to launch The Witch Queen expansion and its new Throne World destination, as well as new features like weapon crafting, the new Legendary difficulty campaign option, the new Glaive weapon archetype, plus all the additional content we have planned for the four new Seasons to come starting in February.”
Changes in the Destiny 2 content
The blog continued and revealed the following, “While most of the Year 4 Seasonal content will be vaulted, certain Year 4 content will persist in Year 5, including the Proving Grounds strike and the Battlegrounds activities. Beginning in February, the existing Battlegrounds will be combined with strikes into a new ‘Vanguard Operations’ playlist that will be free for all players. In addition, the Warden of Nothing strike will remain in the game and will be available to all players for free. Lastly, all of Spider’s currency exchange function will be taken over by Master Rahool in the Tower when the Tangled Shore is moved into the DCV.”
Finally, Bungie said that from December 7, 2021, all Forsaken campaign tasks will be free to all players until they are put to the vault in February. So, if you haven’t played Forsaken yet, you’ll have plenty of time before the update takes effect. This is a great announcement for players who are bored with the current content and want to try out something new.
