Location and Enemy Type Speculation for the Destiny 2 Root of Nightmares

Although the launch of the Destiny 2 Root of Nightmares is just around the corner, specific details regarding the Raid’s location and the enemy type that players will face off against have not yet been confirmed. Typically, these details are revealed only after the latest expansion goes live, so players will likely learn more about the Raid by playing through Lightfall’s story missions.

However, Bungie may have teased the Raid’s location in the latest ViDoc for Lightfall. The ViDoc showcased several areas of Neomuna, with one of them depicting six Guardians preparing for a battle. The cutscene shown in the video is similar to other Raid start-up cutscenes, leading to speculation that Neomuna could be the location of the Root of Nightmares Raid.

Furthermore, leaked descriptions of the Raid appear to support this theory to some degree. According to datamined intel, “A sinister force haunts Neomuna’s citizens. With your fireteam, board the Witness’ terraformed Pyramid ship and confront the ancient threat growing within.”

From this description, it seems likely that the Root of Nightmares Raid will begin on Neomuna before players venture inside a Pyramid ship to confront the ancient threat. Although the details are still shrouded in mystery, this speculation provides some exciting possibilities for the upcoming Raid. Players will have to wait and see if these theories come to fruition when the Root of Nightmares Raid launches on March 10th.

Enemy type

The exact type of enemy players will be facing off against in the Root of Nightmares Raid is still unknown. While the Cabal may be a possibility, given their connection to the story’s central figure, Emperor Calus, Bungie may opt for a different enemy type to keep things fresh.

It’s also worth noting that the campaign already features a large-scale battle against the Cabal, so the Raid could offer something new. There is even speculation that the Black Fleet, introduced in previous expansions, could make a return. We’ll have to wait and see for more information from Bungie, and we’ll update you as soon as we know more.

As the launch of the Root of Nightmares Raid in Destiny 2 approaches, players are eagerly waiting for the recommended Power Level to be revealed. However, with just a few days left until the Raid, it’s unlikely that this information will be released until just before the action gets underway.

Fortunately, there is a ten-day gap between the launch of Lightfall and the opening of the Raid doors. This gives players more than enough time to level up and reach the highest Power Level. In recent years, players have been able to get “Raid ready” just by completing the latest campaign and spending a few hours in post-story content. So, there’s no reason to expect anything different for the Root of Nightmares Raid.

Contest Mode

The Contest Mode will once again be enabled for the first 48 hours of the Raid. This means that no matter how much players grind or how high they raise their Power Level before entering the Raid, everyone will be on equal footing. Contest Mode will level the playing field for all involved, ensuring that everyone has an equal chance of success in the first two days.

With this information in mind, players can confidently prepare for the Root of Nightmares Raid. They will be knowing that they will have more time to reach the recommended Power Level. Then they will have an equal chance to compete in the early stages of the Raid thanks to Contest Mode.
