It’s a good thing it’s a good show

AT&T‘s decision to cancel Kingdom after just three seasons left fans of the series feeling disappointed and bereft. Kingdom was an engaging MMA drama set in a small family gym in Venice, California; its story features both action and romance; The characters are richly developed making them easy to root for while its unexpected plot twists kept viewers engaged with its story arcs.

HBO Max would have done well to add one of the best new series from 2020 – one which would have fit perfectly into their programming lineup if only this show hadn’t been canceled for such seemingly inexplicable reasons. A Vulture article from May 2022 explained that they wanted more adult-oriented content, yet no other shows have come close to matching up against it in terms of success and ratings.

Season 2 of Navy Street MMA can still be watched on Netflix for viewers to catch up. Though AT&T decided to cancel it, the cast and crew were nonetheless grateful to have had this experience together with Nick Jonas, Kiele Sanchez, Matt Lauria, and Joanna Going as characters such as Alvey Kulina (Nick Jonas), Lisa Prince (Kiele Sanchez), loose cannon Jay and disciplined Nate being trained. The story follows Alvey Kulina through his business Navy Street MMA alongside Lisa Prince who runs Navy Street MMA with his girlfriend Lisa Prince as his business partner their hostess as he also trains two fighter-son characters: Lose Cannon Jay and disciplined Nate.

It’s a bad thing it’s a good show

This compelling series pays a masterful homage to 1980s pop culture with its twisty plotline, thrilling mysteries, and devilishly gory horror scenes reminiscent of superhero films from that era. Furthermore, it is one of Netflix’s most addictive shows!

The drama revolves around a family-owned mixed martial arts gym on Venice Beach in California. With realistic characters who face emotional and physical challenges as they train together to defend against violence. Written and directed by Byron Balasco who knows how to bring out their best performances.

Kingdom has enjoyed an extended run on television. First premiering on DirecTV’s Audience Network in 2014 and later picked up by Netflix two years later in 2021, its star cast includes Frank Grillo, Jonathan Tucker, Kiele Sanchez, Matt Lauria and Nick Jonas.

Netflix‘s original series The Magicians started strong but faded in subsequent seasons. There is currently a fourth season scheduled to come out, though there has been talk that it might be its last; AT&T seems oddly determined to cancel such a successful show so soon.

Finding an engaging show can be easy; however, making an enduring classic takes more. Unfortunately, “Infinity Train,” an animated pirate show on HBO Max that had great promise but was canceled after only one season proved otherwise. A real shame because its potential lay in being remembered fondly as one of the classics in its genre.

This year has seen more TV cancellations than ever. Some were inevitable, such as FX’s cancellation of “Kingdom Hospital.” Others were less anticipated, such as HBO canceling “Infinity Train,” an HBO original with strong ratings and critical acclaim that garnered substantial fan support. Such cancellations are alarming indicators of television’s future viability.

Some shows are being renewed for another season; others may have found hope with streaming services that offer support, but it is vitally important that we all show our love by supporting those we like the most.

Kingdom, streaming on AT&T Audience Network, is a mixed martial arts (MMA) drama starring Frank Grillo, Kiele Sanchez, Matt Lauria, Jonathan Tucker and Joanna Going. It traces the struggles of Navy St MMA gym run by retired fighter Alvey Kulina and his two sons; loose-cannon Jay (Frank Grillo) and disciplined Nate Kulina (Nate Tucker and Joanna Going).

It’s a good thing it’s a bad show

Many TV shows must be canceled for various reasons, and sometimes that can be seen as negative; but, sometimes cancellation is seen as beneficial – for instance, Kingdom was recently pulled after three seasons on AT&T Audience Network even though it received critical acclaim and hadn’t reached its full potential yet.

Byron Balasco’s drama depicted the lives of the Kulina family at their Navy Street gym. Characters were well-rounded, giving each their own distinct arc and timelines allowing for continued development. Fans eagerly anticipated how the story would develop and what lasting effects might ensue from it.

No matter its popularity, canceling Kingdom was contentious. Creators and actors of the show were outraged by this decision; some even protested in response. Ultimately though, cancellation is necessary to ensure audiences receive quality programming.

Conclusion

Although there has been no confirmation on when or if Kingdom will return, its chances seem slim for another season. If it does happen, however, expect it to be similar in format rather than being completely revamped, giving viewers time to enjoy familiar stories and characters for longer.
