Andre Agassi, a Las Vegas native, was born to Elizabeth “Betty” Agassi and Emmanuel “Mike” Agassi, an Olympic boxer from Iran. Agassi has three older siblings, and his mother is a breast cancer survivor. At 12, Agassi and his doubles partner, Roddy Parks, won the 1982 National Indoor Boys 14s Doubles Championship. A year later, Bollettieri’s Tennis Academy in Florida provided him free training, prompting Agassi to drop out of school in the ninth grade to pursue tennis.
Andre Agassi began his professional tennis career at 16 and participated in his first tournament in California. After losing his second match to Mats Wilander, Agassi finished in 1986 ranked No. 91. He won his first top-level singles title at the Sul American Open in Itaparica in 1987 and ended the year ranked No. 25. In 1988, he won six additional tournaments and surpassed $1 million in career prize money, playing only 43 tournaments, the fastest anyone in history to reach that level.
Agassi’s strong performances made him a favourite for Grand Slam titles. He reached the semi-finals of the French and US Open in 1988 and 1989. In 1990, he lost his first Grand Slam final at the French Open and lost to Pete Sampras at the US Open final. He won his first Grand Slam tournament at Wimbledon in 1992, defeating Goran Ivanišević. Agassi also won the BBC Overseas Sports Personality of the Year and Davis Cup titles for the United States in 1990 and 1992.
Midway through the 2000s, Andre Agassi’s career saw highs and lows. In 2004, he began the year by losing to Marat Safin in the Australian Open semifinals, snapping a 26-match winning streak in the competition. He did, however, triumph in the Cincinnati Masters Series tournament, raising his career total of top-level singles victories to 59, as well as an ATP Masters Series record of 17 victories. He achieved the second-oldest singles title in Cincinnati tournament history at the age of 34. He was one of the oldest players to place in the top 10 since 1988 when he concluded the year in eighth place.
The injury forced Agassi to quit a number of competitions in 2005, but he managed to make an unlikely run to the US Open final, where he met Roger Federer and lost in four sets. Agassi was rated No. 7 at the conclusion of the year, making this his 16th appearance in the top 10.
Due to an ankle injury, back trouble, and little match play, Agassi had a bad start to 2006. In addition to skipping the French Open and all of the clay-court season, he withdrew from the Australian Open. He competed in a warm-up match at Wimbledon, but Rafael Nadal defeated him in the third round. After Wimbledon, Agassi proclaimed his retirement, and he participated in just two summer hard-court competitions.
About her marriage to former tennis star Andre Agassi, Brooke Shields has expressed remorse. The 49-year-old actress stated in her memoir “There Was a Little Daughter” that she became aware of her error the day after their wedding.
After making efforts to resolve their relationship’s problems, the pair eventually separated when Agassi admitted to having a crystal meth addiction since they started dating in 1993. Shields stated that during their two-year marriage, they seldom saw each other since they were both preoccupied with their professions. In anger, he even broke her trophies of her.
Brooke said, “I was the one who had supported him unconditionally when he told me that he was basically bald and had been wearing hairpieces most of his adult life.”
“Why would this have been any different? I would have been his biggest advocate and supporter,” told Brooke.
