Dan Hooker defeated Jalin Turner at UFC 290 but his arm could be broken after the fight
Dan Hooker and Jalin Turner put on quite a show at UFC 290. This was the second fight on the main card and both stars put on a performance that left the fans at the T-Mobile arena wanting for more.
The fight went the distance but Hooker could have finished the clash in the second and third rounds. Turner won the first round but was hurt by quite a few punches from the Kiwi.
However, Hooker also got hit a few times and there was an insane head kick that he just absorbed. Fortunately, he was able to continue and get the split decision win.
The 33-year-old Hooker taking some big hits seemed to have done some damage. His face was bleeding and he might have picked up another injury.
Joe Rogan asked the Kiwi if he had broken his arm during the fight. Hooker didn’t confirm or deny it but gave a cryptic answer suggesting that more tests need to be done.
“Just a scratch, we have to see”
However, Hooker then later shared an X-ray image of his arm and it confirmed there was a break.
Hooker also praised Turner and called him a “tough kid” during the post-fight interview.
Dan Hooker picks up a huge win at UFC 290
There was a time when Hooker was considered as someone who could fight for the Lightweight title.
However, back-to-back losses to top fighters Dustin Poirier and Michael Chandler ended those talks.
He then picked up a win over Nasrat Haqparast but lost to future UFC Lightweight champion Islam Makhachev. This was followed by another loss to Arnold Allen in a Featherweight clash.
However, Hooker seems to have turned things around. He defeated Claudio Puelles at UFC 281, and now got a huge win over Turner.
The 33-year-old proved that he still has some gas left in him, and he always puts up enjoyable fights.
Hooker might not be in the title shot discussion, and rightfully so. However, this win will do him a world of good and we should expect more fireworks when Hooker is back for his next fight.
