The Boogeyman was one of the creepiest characters in WWE history. But did the Boogeyman eat the worms for real in WWE?

Boogeyman was one of the most spooky and creepy characters that the WWE Universe had ever seen. Throughout WWE’s large history he was involved in many spooky angles in the ring as well as backstage.

One of the most particular characteristics which were disgusting to see was when he used to eat worms in front of people. But did he used to have worms in real? 

You will be surprised to know that the answer is yes, he used to eat worms and was completely fine in doing so. He feels that this act of eating worms used to add value to his on-screen character. 

In an interview, Marty Wright who is the man behind the Boogeyman revealed that he was also ready to hold other insects like crickets, and maggots and roached in his mouth during his entrance. However, WWE officials were afraid of these insects getting lost in the arena. So they limited his entrance to eating worms only.

Marty Wright aka Boogeyman made his WWE debut as the Boogeyman on an episode of SmackDown. He began to creepily appear in various backstage segments. He was also seen appearing in unusual places like wardrobes and ceilings.

In December 2005 he wrestled in his first match and after defeating various opponents in squash matches he started his major feud against JBL and Jillian Hall. The feud ended when he defeated JBL in under two minutes. 

He then got involved in a feud with Booker T and Sharmell where he again emerged victorious in this rivalry after defeating Booker T and Sharmell in a handicap match at WrestleMania 22. This storyline featured some of the most memorable segments involving the Boogeyman. 

In 2007, Boogeyman was drafted to ECW. Under the brand, he feuded with various stars like Matt Striker, Big Daddy V, and even The Miz. He then left WWE and wrestled as an independent wrestler however he made his return during the 2012 Slammy awards and scared his former rival, Booker T.
