About Crazy Town

Bret Mazur and Seth Binzer, known as Epic and Shifty Shellshock, formed a group called “The Brimstone Sluggers” in Los Angeles in 1995 with DJ Adam 12. The band became serious about releasing music in 1999 when Rust Epique, James Bradley Jr., Doug Miller, DJ AM, and Antonio Lorenzo “Trouble” Valli joined. Crazy Town’s debut album, The Gift of Game, was released in November 1999, with the first two singles, “Toxic” and “Darkside,” failing to chart. The band released their third single, “Butterfly,” in 2001, which reached number 1 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart, resulting in over 1.5 million album sales. They toured with Ozzfest in 2001 but faced mixed reviews.

Crazy Town Members

Crazy Town’s second album, Darkhorse, was produced by Howard Benson and had a more rock-oriented sound, although it wasn’t very successful commercially. After the album’s release in 2003, the group disbanded; Bret Mazur went on to found The Pharmacy, while Rust Epique went on to found Pre Thing before passing away in 2004.

In 2004, Binzer published his debut solo album under the pseudonym Shifty Shellshock, and Kraig Tyler joined the industrial band 16Volt, which was led by Eric Powell. Crazy Town reunited in 2007 and previewed a brand-new studio album, but they never made it public. After the accidental drug overdose of former member DJ AM in 2010, they played together at SRH FEST in California for the first time in five years. In 2011, they posted brand-new tracks on Myspace and YouTube.

Crazy Town announced in 2013 that they were working on a new album, The Brimstone Sluggers. They released “Megatron,” the first official single from the album, in 2014. The Brimstone Sluggers was released in 2015, and DJ AM was featured on the track “Born to Raise Hell.” In 2016, Elias Tannous joined as the lead guitarist, and the band toured with the Make America Rock Again concert. Epic left the band in 2017, and the remaining members added an “X” to their name. In 2019, the band’s van crashed into a moose during a tour stop in Canada, and several members were treated for injuries.

Why did they fight and what happened?

Crazy Town’s co-vocalists, Seth Binzer and Bobby Reeves, were involved in a physical altercation after a poor show in Myrtle Beach, California. Binzer did not appear onstage, leading to an argument over the band’s performance fee.

Crazy Town Members

In a video uploaded to Facebook, the duo can be seen fighting, exchanging racial slurs and threats before being pulled apart. Reeves posted a video of his bruised face on Facebook but claim that things were “all good”. Despite the incident, Crazy Town is set to continue their tour, performing at the Vixen in McHenry, IL, on April 26th.
