Dillon Brooks Career
Dillon started playing basketball at his high school, Findlay Prep. After his successful high school season, he joined the University of Oregon to continue his college basketball career. He averaged 11.5 points during his Freshman season. On seeing his performance in the junior season, he was named to the Pac-12 Conference all-freshman team. At the end of the season, he was awarded the District lX player of the year by the United States Basketball Writers Association. Brooks averaged 16.7 points with 5.4 rebounds and 3.1 assists per game in his second year.
Without any second thought, Brooks decided to continue his third year with Oregon. He missed the off-season trip to France due to an injury in the foot. On average, he scored 14.8 points with 4.5 rebounds and 2.6 assists per game. On completion of his third year in Oregon, he decided to enter the 2017 NBA draft.
In the 2017 NBA draft, Brooks was drafted by the Houston Rockets as the 45th pick in the 2017 draft. Immediately after drafting Brooks, he was traded to the Memphis Grizzlies. Brooks made his NBA debut in the 2017 season opener match with Grizzlies. He scored 19 points in his debut match, which is considered as the highest number of points scored by a Canadian player in an NBA debut. There was a ruptured ligament issue during his 2019 season, that cost him rest for the remaining matches in the season.
Brooks was in his prime during the 2019-20 season, as he averaged 16.1 points per game. Upon completing his successful season, the Grizzlies extended his contract by 3 years/$ 35 million.
