Brock Purdy Career
In 2015, Brock Purdy began his varsity football career as a sophomore at Perry High School. Perry was placed in the 6A Division Premier Region, which was ranked the sixth toughest region in the US. Purdy’s performance led Perry to the 6A Division AIA State Championship in 2016 and 2017. He achieved a 27-13 record and was named Gatorade’s Football Player of the Year and The Arizona Republic’s high school football player of the Year. He committed to Iowa State University in 2018 as a three-star prospect.
After starting as the third-string quarterback for Iowa State University in 2018, Brock Purdy became the starter when the first two quarterbacks were unavailable. He had an impressive 7-2 record, passing for 2,250 yards, 16 touchdowns, and seven interceptions. In his sophomore year, he started all 13 games, highlighted by a school record-breaking game of 510 total yards and three touchdowns against Louisiana-Monroe. Purdy led the Big-12 in passing yards with 3,982 and shattered a school record with 35 total touchdowns.
Although Breece Hall’s ascent pushed the Cyclones to a 9-3 record and their greatest ranking in program history, Purdy’s junior season saw less spectacular results. He completed 20 of 23 throws for three touchdowns and one running score in a 42-6 victory against West Virginia, and he threw no interceptions while winning 45-0 against Kansas State. In the Fiesta Bowl victory over Oregon, Purdy scored a touchdown both via the air and on the ground. Purdy guided the Cyclones to a 7-6 record and multiple school records during his final year.
