Jared Cannonier is one of the biggest names in the MMA world but does he have a wife?
Jared Cannonier is one of the big names in the UFC and is currently ranked as the number 2 ranked Middleweight.
The Killa Gorilla, as he is called, is yet to lift the UFC title. However, his next fight is against the champion, Israel Adesanya, at UFC 276.
Cannonier has only lost one fight in his last six outings and that was against a former Middleweight champion. Robert Whittaker got the better of The Killa Gorilla at UFC 254. However, Cannonier can try to become the first person to dethrone Adesanya from the Middleweight throne.
While Cannonier has spoken about how he got into MMA, not a lot is known about his personal life. There is no information available regarding his family but surprisingly, there is some info about his marital status.
Not many would know this, but Cannonier is actually married.
Who is the wife of Jared Cannonier?
Again, not much is known about Cannonier’s wife but outlets claim that he is married to Catherine.
Reports claim that the pair met during Cannonier’s time in the military, specifically during the UFC star’s time in Alabama.
Catherine was also in the military since 2002. The pair have been married for over 12 years and are the parents of three children.
However, there are no details regarding Cannonier’s children. No photos are available and neither are any photographs available.
Cannonier did speak a bit about his wife and the sacrifices he had to make in the sport. While speaking to Yahoo Sport, he brought up how his partner would support him in his journey.
“The FAA [Federal Aviation Administration] was essentially a means to be able to do it,” he said of starting a martial arts career. “Of course, with the support of my wife, I was able to put in all those hours. I had this drive to do the martial arts. It wasn’t necessarily mixed martial arts, but I always had the drive to be a martial artist from being a kid watching them on TV, but especially from the Army where I got my first real taste of martial arts.”
However, The Killa Gorilla also claimed that if he wasn’t going to get the support from his better half, he might have taken another route:
“It was something I was going to do and I was willing to sacrifice a lot to do it,” Cannonier said. “If my wife wasn’t going to support me, bye. If my work wasn’t going to support me, bye. My work supported me, but now I’m at the point where I can support myself.”
Cannonier has worked hard to be where he is. He now has the chance to become the UFC Champion. However, defeating Adesanya is no easy task, given that the Kiwi has not lost in his division in his MMA career.
