Ryan Spann has had his ups and downs in his MMA career. He was on Dana White’s Contender Series back in 2017 but lost to Karl Roberson.
Normally, that would be the end of it all since very rarely do you get a second shot at the DWCS. However, Spann won three consecutive fights in the LFA and became the Light Heavyweight champion.
He got another shot at the DWCS and defeated Emiliano Sordi to bag a UFC contract. The American went on a five-fight winning streak after making his UFC debut, but that was halted by Johnny Walker.
He seemed set for a title shot but that loss really blew the wind out of him. However, Spann has spoken about how much support his wife provides him through the good times and the bad.
Speaking to ESPN after getting a second shot in the UFC, Spann highlighted how he was upset post losing to Roberson, and that his wife would take care of him.
“It was a couple times where I’d just get a jug and pee in it and have my wife empty it,” Spann said. “It was bad, man. It was tough times.”
The UFC star has spoken about his partner and wife several times, but there is no other information available about her.
Spann has been married for a while and is blessed with three children. Ryan Jr, Yahsir and Cheyenne.
However, he doesn’t post a lot about them either, and even his Instagram profile is kept private. It seems that the UFC star wants to keep his family moments away from the limelight and he concentrates on his fighting career.
Spann will be back in action at this weekend’s special UFC Singapore card. The main event sees Chan Sung Jung, AKA The Korean Zombie, take on Max Holloway.
Spann fights on the co-main event of the card as he takes on Anthony Smith in a rematch. Smith had won the previous bout between the pair, and it will be interesting to see if Spann can pick up a win.
