Dominik Mysterio proved he was no flash in the pan against Seth Rollins at SummerSlam
Seth Rollins vs Dominik Mysterio was one of the more intriguing clashes at SummerSlam 2020.
Rollins is a seasoned professional doing his best heel role ever while Dominik is a young upstart that had never wrestled in a WWE match.
He also carried the additional baggage of being Rey Mysterio’s son, but that didn’t harm him in this outing.
Dominik proved he can be with the best and was one of the positives from this PPV. There was one moment that didn’t click though as we look at the hits and misses from a pretty good SummerSlam.
While Strowman vs The Fiend will be remembered for the end of the match, there wasn’t really anything much to talk about during the clash.
The Fiend, again, didn’t sell many of Strowman’s moves and the match lacked a certain oopmh. Maybe another cinematic match would have worked but there was something missing in all this.
It wasn’t a poor match by any means but regular wrestling matches with the Fiend are one-dimensional and need some changing.
As alluded earlier, Dominik was one of the stars from SummerSlam. The youngster went toe to toe with Rollins and was close to getting a win too.
The Messiah rightly got the win as Dominik beating him would have been a little too much. However, this wasn’t a one-sided clash and the younger Mysterio had some great moments too.
This was a fantastic WWE PPV debut for Dominik and greater things should be in store for him. He now has an excellent base to work on and it will be interesting to see what is next for him.
Roman Reigns returning to WWE, with new teeth and all, was a sight that everyone loved. The Big Dog had been missing since WrestleMania, but this was the perfect return for him.
Not only did he destroy The Fiend and Braun Strowman on his own, but he also set his sights on the WWE Universal title.
Reigns should have replaced Goldberg as the champion but that wasn’t to be. We now have a meaner, hungrier and stronger Big Dog and he should dominate SmackDown.
Mandy Rose and Sonya Deville took part in a loser leaves WWE match with no disqualifications. While the pair have been on fire on the microphone, there was a fear that this match might not live up to expectations.
Rose and Deville, however, went all guns blazing in a brilliant match which had a lot riding on it. While Deville was the one to leave WWE, they sold the emotion of it all perfectly.
Alright, maybe Rose dancing away and doing the caterpillar with Otis was a little too much, but it fit with the storyline.
WWE doesn’t always get credit with its storylines but they deserve some for how they dealt with the three women.
Asuka got a shot at Bayley and Sasha Banks and could have won both titles. However, she got one of them and it was the right call.
While Bayley kept her crown, Banks lost to a beat-up Asuka, and that would put a strain on the relationship between the Golden Role Models.
Banks was expected to turn heel before winning the Raw title. However, that could happen now given that she lost her crown.
