After graduating early from high school in the fall of 2000, Foxworth enrolled at the University of Maryland and signed with the Terrapins in early 2001. While playing for the Terrapins, Foxworth started every game between 2001 and September 2004 and received the ACC honours three times.
Domonique began his professional career in 2005 after being picked by Denver Broncos in the third round during the NFL draft. Three years later, the Broncos traded him to the Atlanta Falcons for a conditional seventh-round pick in the 2009 NFL draft.
Foxworth joined Baltimore Ravens in 2009, signing a four-year contract worth $28 million. However, he suffered an ACL injury on the first day of training camp, causing him to miss the entire season. Following the knee problems, he could play only two games during the season.
