Everton vs Arsenal Ratings: Arsenal Player Ratings + Twitter Reaction

Arsenal’s bleak and fragile defence succumbed to the ferocious attacking play that Marco Silva’s Everton side were able to produce today and they in turn, didn’t have any sort of forward impact despite having the works in terms of depth on the pitch.

Neither Pierre Emerick Aubameyang nor Mesut Ozil were able to get a grip on the game and their defence struggled to deal with the movement offered by the Toffees wingers. Henrikh Mkhitaryan was poor all through as surprise starter Mohamed Elneny was so horrendous that he was taken off at half-time.

Here are the Arsenal Player Ratings:

Bernd Leno 6

Didn’t have too much of a chance with the Everton opener but smothered a couple of other shots quite well.

Ainsley Maitland-Niles 5

Played a poor back pass which Bernard pounced on but Leno saved him. Was caught out of position too much.

Shkodran Mustafi 5

Typically poor on the ball and didn’t offer Leno much help at all. Didn’t position himself well in the box either.

Sokratis Papastathopoulos 6

The Greek international is the Gunners’ best centre-half and it was clear to see as he didn’t make too many errors.

Nacho Monreal 5

The Spaniard has seen limited first-team action this year and the lack of sharpness was clear as day.

Sead Kolasinac 4

He was quite poor on the ball and needlessly gave away possession and was substituted at half-time

Matteo Guendouzi 5

The young Frenchman showed good composure at times but still needs to work on his awareness.

Mohamed Elneny 3

The Egyptian international midfielder had a night to forget as he was taken off at half-time owing to a terrible first period.

Mesut Ozil 4

Far too many times nowadays is Ozil found aimlessly loitering the pitch. He failed to impact the game in any way.

Henrikh Mkhitaryan 4

The Armenian’s attempts to get Arsenal back into the game were riddled with misplaced passes and poor touches.

Alexandre Lacazette 5

The Frenchman did have his opportunities but failed to really seize anything and struggled to get into the game for periods.

Substitutes

Pierre Emerick Aubameyang 4

The Gabonese talisman seemed to be off the pace since coming on and shows none of his usual attacking prowess.

Aaron Ramsey 6

Changed the game in midfield and really pushed to try and find the equaliser but with no help from his teammates.

Alex Iwobi 5

Tried to use his dribbling and pace to carve a way through the Toffees back-line but failed to do so.
