Chelsea FC have recently announced the signing of American youngster Christian Pulisic from German outfit Borrusia Dortmund. He has been a transfer target for nearly all of England’s top teams and some Spanish sides as well.
The signing will aid Chelsea in building for the future and also build new bridges between themselves and the massive country of the United States of America. Being the most expensive American footballer ever will come with massive expectations and Chelsea fans will have to wait until the start of next season to see if they’re met.
Another player who has been linked to Chelsea over the last month or so is Bournemouth striker Callum Wilson, who is having a spectacular campaign so far under the guidance of Eddie Howe.
According to The Sun, Chelsea have rekindled their interest in the Englishman after Pulisic’s transfer to address more serious issues.
Let’s take a look at how Chelsea could line up with Pulisic and Wilson also within their ranks.
GK – Kepa Arizzabalaga
Having recently become the most expensive goalkeeper in the world, Kepa has had a reasonable good start to life in London. He has been pretty solid in between the sticks for Chelsea is yet to make an error that can be frowned upon.
RB – Cesar Azpilicueta
Having arrived at Chelsea all those years ago as a near unknown, Cesar – who is lovingly called ‘Dave’ by Chelsea fans, has developed into the natural leader of this side. While he has kept the captain’s armband, he has also been consistently good for the blues.
CB – Antonio Rudiger
This German defender has been an unsung hero for Chelsea so far this term. He has been extremely solid when called upon and has even pitched in with a goal this campaign. A massive presence in either box, he looks like he is set to be at the heart of this defense for a long time to come.
CB – David Luiz
Often questioned about his concentration and work rate, David Luiz has been a revelation this season barring a couple of games where he went back to being his old self. His distribution skills are key to the way that Sarri has set this side up and will be crucial to the squad.
LB – Marcos Alonso
A lot of questions were asked when Chelsea signed a former Premier League flop from Fiorentina. Alonso has answered all of those questions in his 2 years at Chelsea. Brilliant going forward, equally capable of defending and with the ability to deliver from set-pieces, Alonso has become crucial to the way Chelsea play.
CDM – Jorginho
Having seemingly created a new role in football, Jorginho’s role in a Sarri team is very clear to be seen. His passing and movement is what keeps this Chelsea ticking and once ‘Sarri-ball’ has been implemented, he will continue to be an essential part of this team.
RCM – N’Golo Kante
Often labeled the best defensive midfielder in the world, Kante has been allotted a more attacking position by Sarri. While he hasn’t been upto his standards from last season, Kante continues to be Chelsea’s hardest working player on the pitch.
LCM – Matteo Kovacic
Having arrived on loan from Real Madrid as a makeweight in the deal for Thibaut Courtois, Kovacic is enjoying life in England. He has been a good addition to this Chelsea side offering control and an ability to take players out of the game in midfield with his close control.
RW – Christian Pulisic
Chelsea’s most recent signing – Pulisic will walk into the starting line up and replace the ageing Pedro and Willian. He is an unbelievable ball carrier and dribbler and with support from the likes of Eden Hazard and Kovacic, he could develop into quite the player.
ST – Callum Wilson
The signing of Wilson is bound to change Chelsea’s fortunes in front of goal. He is a typical English striker who is fast, strong and extremely hard working. His quality and attitude will suit Sarri’s system. This has the potential to be a massive signing for the Blues.
LW – Eden Hazard
Getting their star man to sign a new contract will be the factor that decides whether or not Chelsea can challenge for trophies next term. If he does stay, with Pulisic and Wilson by his side, one can only dream of all the magic Eden Hazard is capable of conjuring up.
