WWE superstar Drew McIntyre lauds praise on Conor McGregor but doesn’t shy away from throwing verbal punches
Former UFC ‘champ-champ, Conor McGregor, is one of the biggest sporting personalities in the world.
So it is understandable why Triple H jumped on the opportunity to have him in WWE at the slightest of suggestions dropped by the Irishman.
And there is a WWE star who thinks he would fit in very well in the promotion. But he says he wouldn’t quite be getting a hug from ‘The Notorious One’ because of his shenanigans on social media.
Drew McIntyre was on Sky Sports earlier this week and talked about the prospect of having McGregor on the show. And he stated that the lightweight UFC fighter would fit in well.
“No, I wouldn’t want to give him a hug but he wouldn’t want to give me a hug considering I keep calling him McTapper on social media. He’s such a huge star, he knows how to entertain and is an incredible fighter as well. When the time is right, he will show up in WWE and it’s going to be exciting.”
There is no love lost between the Scottish and the Irish at times. Just see what’s going on between Sheamus and McIntyre on WWE for example.
And talking about his potential fight with Tyson Fury, ‘The Chosen One’ said that he would prefer the boxer over McGregor because the Irishman is not the same size as him.
“I know I give him some c*** but chances are we’re probably not going to have a match because he’s the size of my left calf. I will probably stick with Fury. He’s a big guy and we’re heavyweights, but it would be cool to have McGregor part of it.”
Having someone like McGregor on WWE would be immense for the show. Just imagine the ratings!
And UFC to WWE (and vice versa) is not an unexplored path. Many fighters, such as CM Punk and Brock Lesnar have gone from WWE to UFC.
And UFC fighters such as Ronda Rousey, Matt Riddle, Shayna Baszler, and Cain Velasquez have appeared on WWE. So fingers crossed, McGregor is added to that esteemed list.
