Dricus Du Plessis has shaken up the UFC in just a span of three years. With a stunning MMA record, he is the next superstar. On the other hand, Dricus Du Plessis has found the love of his life. He is engaged to Vasti Spiller, who is also his boxing coach. Dricus Du Plessis and Vasti Spiller got engaged in January 2025, and the duo confirmed the happy news on their social media accounts.
Having made his promotional debut on the 11th of October, 2020, the South African quickly rose through the ranks beating the likes of Markus Perez and Trevin Giles.
He then entered the big boys’ league, taking on Brad Tavares at UFC 276 – a unanimous decision win, earned him a fight against Darren Till (now out of the UFC).
A face-crank submission win over the Brit, saw him move to Derek Brunson next. A corner-stoppage win put the middleweight division on notice.
Next, came the biggest test of this career, in the form of Robert Whittaker. While a chunk of the MMA community felt it would be a routine win for the Oceanian, Du Plessis had other ideas.
In only the second round of their fight at UFC 290, Du Plessis earned a TKO win over ‘The Reaper’ to set up a title shot against Israel Adesanya (which ultimately didn’t end up happening).
He now stands one step away from glory, with Sean Strickland in his path.

Known for his good looks – attested by Sean Strickland himself, Dricus Du Plessis is currently in a relationship with Vasti Spiller. She was. Photographer and an Author who then became his coach. She is a professional boxing coach at CIT Studio and also owns a photography studio.
His relationship status also quashes all the rumors of homosexuality – a controversy that popped up when he shared a kiss with his coach Morne Visser.
The South African’s relationship with Spiller has been quite brief, as of this writing. The pair are believed to have met only during mid-2023 and Du Plessis proposed to her in an event.
It is worth noting that Du Plessis was rumoured to be in a relationship with Nastassja Ras previously.
