4th seed Felix Auger-Aliassime takes on world No. 36 Maxime Cressy in the round of 32 of the Dubai Tennis Championships.
Felix Auger-Aliassime
The Canadian No. 1 did not have a great start to the season as he crashed out in the first round of the Adelaide International 1. He had a decent campaign in the Australian Open where he made it to the fourth round. Auger-Aliassime failed to successfully defend his Rotterdam Open title as he lost to eventual champion Daniil Medvedev in the quarterfinals.
In the recently-concluded Qatar Open, Auger-Aliassime made it to the semis where he lost to Medvedev once again. The 22-year-old will look to have another deep run in the Dubai Tennis Championships.
Maxime Cressy
The American tennis pro had a similar start to the season as he lost to Thanasi Kokkinakis in the first round of the Adelaide International 1. Cressy crashed out in the second round of three tournaments – The Australian Open, ATP Rotterdam Open, and Open 13.
Cressy’s best result of the season came in the Montpellier Open where he reached the finals with wins against Antoine Bellier, 7th seed Emil Ruusuvuori, 3rd seed Borna Coric, and top seed Holger Rune. The 25-year-old eventually lost to Jannik Sinner in the final. Before coming to Dubai, Cressy faced Benjamin Bonzi in the second round of the Open 13 and went down after bagging the first set.
Head-to-Head and Prediction
Maxime Cressy has a 1-0 lead in the head-to-head scoreline against Felix Auger-Aliassime. The American youngster defeated Auger-Aliassime in the 2022 Wimbledon Championships 6-7, 6-4, 7-6, 7-6.
Prediction: Felix Auger-Aliassime to win in three sets.
