Poirier defeated Holloway to become the interim lightweight champion, which eventually earned him a title shot against Khabib Nurmagomedov. Poirier was unsuccessful against Khabib.
And finally at UFC 257, he rematched Conor McGregor and exacted revenge by knocking the Irishman out.
