Predicted Burnley line-up to face Burton: Who should start?

Sean Dyche’s men registered their first win of the Premier League campaign with a 4-0 drubbing of AFC Bournemouth on Saturday at Turf Moor. The Clarets have found it difficult to hit the ground running this season but the 4-0 victory might just be the breakthrough they needed to change their fortunes.

Burnley take on League One side Burton Albion in the third round of the League Cup on Wednesday. Given that the team fared well against Bournemouth, the League Cup game should be a pretty straightforward encounter for the Clarets.

Steven Defour is yet to regain full fitness and Ben Gibson continues to be on the treatment table to nurse his hernia injury. Both the players will be unavailable for selection on Wednesday.

Predicted Burnley XI to face Burton Albion

Manager: Sean Dyche

Formation: 4-4-1-1

Joe Hart (GK)

The Englishman has been in good form this season and has made some superb saves. He managed to keep a clean sheet against Bournemouth and must start on Wednesday.

Matthew Lowton (RB)

He had a good game against Bournemouth and should start ahead of Phil Bardsley, who hasn’t had a good time lately.

Ben Mee (CB)

The centre-back has been a regular since last season and must start on Wednesday.

James Tarkowski (CB)

He has been Burnley’s standout performer this season and had another impressive outing over the weekend. He is definitely in line to receive an England call-up soon and should start the League Cup game.

Charlie Taylor (LB)

He did not have the best of games against Wolves but looked far more confident against Bournemouth. Dyche must hand him another start.

Ashley Barnes (ST)

He came on late in the game against Bournemouth and scored a brace to guarantee all three points for Dyche’s side. He should start in place of Sam Vokes, who had a rather quiet time in front of the goal.
