The new Apex legends Hero announcement saw the introduction of another Titanfall 2 player and that seems to have upped the player count for TTF2 on steam

Titanfall 2 was launched with a lot of fanfare but things just didn’t click for the first-person shooter.

This is the sequel to the underwhelming Titanfall and for all the changes Respawn Entertainment and EA made, it just didn’t work out for them.

TTF2 received mostly positive reviews for the changes to its game play and even updated several multiplayer and single player issues, but the game was a commercial let down.

Most FPS games live or die by the player count, especially from online multiplayer modes. TTF2 has several of these and some of them are exciting, however, the player count has been a worry.

Although TTF2 sold around 4million units in 2017, after its launch in 2016, Steam releasing the game on its platform in 2020 also helped it a bit.

The rise and fall of Titanfall 2’s player count

When the game was launched on Steam in 2020, Titanfall 2 had an average player count of 8,395. The peak player count, which normally took place during the weekends, was 13,427.

That isn’t a poor number, though it isn’t the greatest either. The FPS market is loaded with several options and another game from Respawn, Apex Legends, has been doing great.

This is also based on the same universe as Titanfall and Titanfall 2. However, Apex Legends wipes the floor with TTF2 as it current has an average player count of 122,107 with a peak of 217,728.

Constant updates and seasons to this FPS has increased the player count over the past few months and another season/story update has achieved the same for both games.

The newest Apex Legends Hero is the daughter of a Titanfall pilot, Valkyrie. The announcement was made in April 2021 and Respawn also released several stories which linked this new character to the Apex Legends game.

There are some links with Viper, who was in Titanfall 2, and it will be interesting to see how this new Hero does on Apex Legends.

However, the good thing in all this is that Titanfall 2 saw a rise in their player count over the past 30 days.

Steam’s chart confirmed that the average player count doubled over the past 30 days with 2,932 logging in when compared to just 1,516 in the period prior to that.

Further, the peak players over the weekend ha significantly risen. This was just 2,655 during March 2021 but that has risen to 16,732 in April, and that is the highest that Titanfall 2 has achieved since the game launched on Steam.

Valkyrie will be added as a new character on 4 May, but it seems she could have revived Titanfall 2 a bit with this new launch.
