Konami has released new gameplay footage of their football game PES 22 renamed as eFootball. Here is everything that you need to know

Fans are extremely excited for Konami’s Pro Evolution Soccer 22 now renamed as eFootball. eFootball will launch later this year with Unreal Engine 4. Konami released a video revealing some key gameplay details before the launch of the game. The developers are focusing on 1v1 duels and an improved ball-handling system. They have also improved the defenders’ AI to make the counterattacks deadlier.

Here is a full list of the gameplay system revealed in the trailer

  1. Controlling the ball touch
  2. Tricking the defender
  3. Sharp Kicks
  4. 1v1 Duels
  5. Enhanced Team Playstyles and controls

1. Controlling the ball touch

In the new game, the players will be able to control the strength of each kick. Players can also determine the dribbling speed from a knock on to a full dash. The Playstation 5 players will also have a bonus feature. They will feel haptic feedback from the DualSense controller. Players should note that this feature won’t be available at launch but will be added after a patch.

2. Tricking the defender

eFootball is adding some features so that the players can play mind games with their opponents just like a real game. The players will be able to trick the defenders with feints and subtle body movements. This can potentially confuse your opponent so that you will get a clear shot at the goal.

3. Sharp Kicks

Sharp Kicks is a feature that will also be launched after a patch update. It will not be available immediately after the launch of the game. Using this feature, the players will be able to perform special kicks like a sharp cross, fast lofted pass or rising shot. These new movement skills will take more time to execute, so choosing the optimal time to perform them is crucial.

4. 1v1 Duels

Konami has made some impressive additions to the 1v1 duelling system. They have shifted the focus from the main game to a smaller moment against your opponent which can potentially influence the whole game. The AI will make real time calculations to include the ball, movement speed, body direction, physical ability and more. The combination of all this and the player skill will determine the outcome of this duel. This mode will also have a new ‘duel camera’ that will focus on this 1v1 movement. After the duel, the camera will be pulled back to the regular view.

5. Enhanced Team Playstyles and controls

The developers have added some new AI playstyles to help your team in coordination during the game. This new AI with the attacking and defending controls will give players more options to play as they want.

eFootball will be launched on PC, consoles and mobile devices as a free-to-play game. We will be able to play the game this fall.
