Elise Mertens Career
Elise Mertens was four years old when she first started playing tennis. After few years, finally, in 2013, Mertens turned into a professional.
In her junior years, Mertens was a doubles finalist at the ITF New Delhi, alongside Marina Melnikova. Then in 2015, Mertens made her WTA Tour main-draw debut at the 2015 Copa Colsanitas in the doubles event, partnering Nastja Kolar. Subsequently, Mertens won her first WTA doubles title at the 2016 Auckland Open.
In 2017, Mertens won the 2017 Hobart International in the singles category. Her Hobart International results helped Mertens break into the WTA top 100 for the first time, on 16 January 2017.
Further, Mertens participated in the 2017 Dubai Championships. Mertens, however, lost in the second round but her Dubai Championships results helped Mertens reach a new then career-ranking of world No. 69 in singles category. Mertens began her 2018 season by becoming the first woman to win back-to-back titles in Hobart International.

However, Mertens made a comeback to win her first Premier title at the 2019 Qatar Open. Mertens’s Qatar Open win helped her climb the rankings back to world No. 16.
Next, Mertens along with her partner, Aryna Sabalenka, won the doubles title at the 2019 Indian Wells. In the finals of the Indian Wells doubles, Mertens defeated Barbora Krejčíková and Kateřina Siniaková. Mertens began the 2020 season slow. In the early season, Mertens couldn’t deliver satisfactory results.
