Predicted Arsenal XI to face Manchester United in the Premier League

Arsenal completed a fantastic comeback to beat Tottenham Hotspur 4-2 in the north London derby on Sunday and the Gunners will once again be the favourites to claim all three points when they make the trip to Old Trafford to face a struggling Manchester United on Wednesday.

Unai Emery’s men currently sit 4th in the Premier League standings and they will be backing themselves to stretch their unbeaten run to 20 games across all competitions.

Manchester United will have to improve significantly to have any chance of getting a positive result out from this game after disappointing draws against Crystal Palace and Southampton.

Team News

Granit Xhaka is suspended for having picked up five yellow cards while Nacho Monreal continues to be on the sidelines to nurse his injured hamstring. Laurent Koscielny and Shkodran Mustafi are unlikely to play a part on Wednesday while Mesut Ozil’s is struggling with a back injury and his selection will be subject to a late fitness test.

Danny Welbeck is out with a long-term ankle injury.

Formation: 4-2-3-1

Manager: Unai Emery

Predicted XI

1. Bernd Leno (GK)

The German made some important saves in the last game and has always been a reliable presence between the sticks.

2. Hector Bellerin (RB)

The Spaniard has contributed equally to both attack and defence this season and should retain his spot for this one.

3. Sokratis (CB)

He used his strength to good effect to keep the opposition at bay in the last game and he will be expected to put in another solid shift at the back.

4. Rob Holding (CB)

He didn’t start the last game but Mustafi’s injury is likely to open the door for him to get a start at Old Trafford.

5. Sead Kolasinac (LB)

Solid at the back and impressive on the attack, the Bosnian has looked really good in the last couple of outings.

6. Matteo Guendouzi (CDM)

He started the first four games in the league this season and should once again find himself amongst the starters in Xhaka’s absence.

7. Lucas Torreira (CDM)

The Uruguayan has been one of the standout performers for the Gunners this season and he will be in high spirits after scoring a goal in the derby.

8. Henrikh Mkhitaryan (RW)

The former Manchester United man has failed to string together consistent performances this season and Arsenal will need him to rise to the occasion on Wednesday.

9. Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang (LW)

He will be expected to shift to a wide role to accommodate Lacazette in the eleven.
