Here is all you need to know about the parents of 20-year old Tennis sensation from the United Kingdom – Emma Raducanu
In 2021, Emma Raducanu made history by becoming the first-ever qualifier in the Open Era to make it to a major single final. She then went on to win the 2021 US Open by beating Leylah Annie Fernandez of Canada.
She did so by beating Maria Sakkari in the semi-final of the 2021 US Open in straight-sets. She had to win 9 matches in total (3 qualifiers) to reach the finals of the Grand Slam at Flushing Meadows.
The 20-year-old also became the first woman from the United Kingdom to reach the finals of a Grand Slam since Virginia Wade did it at the 1977 Wimbledon.
This was also US Open’s first British finalist since Virginia Wade (again) in 1968.
Raducanu defeated Leylah Fernandez of Canada, another teenager, in the final of the 2021 US Open.
The pair have never met on the senior stage before. Their first and only meeting was at the 2018 Junior Wimbledon championships – and Raducanu won the game in straight sets.
However, there is a question in everyone’s minds about Raducanu’s roots. Her parents and family background. Here is everything you should know about the same:
Emma Raducanu was born in Canada
Emma Raducanu was born on the 13th of November in Toronto, Canada to parents Ian Raducanu and Renee.
Her father Ian is a Romanian, from Bucharest, while her mother Renee is from Shenyang, China.
Both her parents work in the finance sector.
Her parents and Emma moved to Great Britain when she was just 2 years old, and hence her nationality (British).
Her parents were notably spotted cheering for Raducanu at the Wimbledon, and Ian was especially proud of his daughter, despite her fourth-round exit at the 2021 Wimbledon.
