Yes, alcohol played a huge role in Steven’s death. Steven has struggled with alcoholism throughout his adult life. He walked away from his home in Boise, Idaho. His manager, Robert Hayes, confirmed the news of his death by stating that he passed away due to liver failure.

He said that he was surrounded by friends and family during his last moments. Steve was in hospice care, and his manager had made a statement stating that he would not be here for too long. Steve had heavy drinking problems, and his alcohol consumption caused him a lot of health issues.

In 2013, Steve was diagnosed with cardiomyopathy, a heart condition that causes abnormal thickening of the heart muscles and makes it hard to function.

Later on, he was diagnosed with Wernicke’s encephalopathy, which is a neurological condition that causes slurring in speech and affects the memory of an individual, and he has also endured heart failure symptoms. The music star’s indulgence in alcohol affected his health and his work life. He made the decision to retire from the band in 2021 because he wanted to focus on himself and his family. The singer’s cremation will take place in Boise, and his burial will take place in San Jose, California.
