Here is all you should know about which fighters have been confirmed in Mortal Kombat 1 trailer

The Mortal Kombat franchise has officially confirmed that Johnny Cage will be a playable character in the upcoming Mortal Kombat 1 game, despite his absence from the reveal trailer. This announcement comes after months of speculation and hints, including a mention during a Warner Bros earnings call.

NetherRealm, the game’s developer, has confirmed that Mortal Kombat 1 will reinvent the timeline and introduce a fresh start for the series. The cinematic trailer showcased a reimagined roster of characters such as Liu Kang, Scorpion, Raiden, and others.

However, the official Mortal Kombat 1 website revealed that Johnny Cage will also be part of the game, as mentioned in the FAQ section. Additionally, the Kombat Pack will include a Johnny Cage character skin resembling Jean-Claude Van Damme, along with early access to new playable characters and Kameo Fighters.

There is a strong indication that Johnny Cage remains a Hollywood actor in Liu Kang’s universe, as evidenced by his Jean-Claude Van Damme skin. Although there is no official confirmation or visual evidence of him in action, the inclusion of this skin implies that his character hasn’t undergone significant changes.

It would be a missed opportunity if the regular version of Johnny Cage, who has garnered attention due to Karl Urban’s casting in the Mortal Kombat 2 movie, didn’t make an appearance in this alternate universe featuring younger versions of the characters.
