More on Christ the Redeemer Statue

Brazilian Christ the Redeemer is an Art Deco statue of Jesus. The monument is located in Rio de Janeiro’s Tijuca Forest National Park atop the 700 m (2,300 ft) high Corcovado Mountains. This sculpture was created by Polish-French sculptor Paul Landrowski. In addition to this beautiful statue, there are seven wonders of the world. The monument was erected by Brazilian engineer Heiter da Silva Costa in collaboration with French engineer Albert Caquot. The statue’s face was created by Romanian artist Gheorghe Leonida.

A 30-meter-long statue, or 98 feet-long sculpture, is located at the plaza’s center. There is no mention of the 26-foot pedestal, which is 8 meters high. There is a span of 28 meters between the arms of the idol. In comparison with the Statue of Liberty, this monument stands about two-thirds as tall. 635 metric tons of weight are attached to this idol. This idol is considered a symbol of Christianity worldwide, including in India. Rio de Janeiro and Brazil now consider it to be a cultural landmark. Soapstone and reinforced concrete were used to construct the statue, which was built between 1922 and 1931.
