Is Nelly dating Ashanti again? Is there any truth to the rumours?
Nelly and Ashanti – who have been romantically linked on and off since the 2000s – are fueling romance rumors once again after they were spotted together in Las Vegas Saturday night. The duo sat ringside for the boxing match between Gervonta Davis and Ryan Garcia, with many of their fans taking to social media to weigh in on their potential reignited romance.
Although Nelly, 48, and Ashanti, 42, appeared to lay low during the actual fight, video footage from the event showed the musicians holding hands as they exited the venue.
Their appearance together naturally sparked dating rumours, as the internet speculated about the on-and-off couple getting back together. Although the pair did not confirm the rumours of them dating, fellow rappers on social media have spoken on the two potentially being back together.
“Yo mo! I know we not seeing eye to eye either really but from lil bro to big bro STOP PLAYING AND MARRY THIS WOMAN BRO!” fellow rapper Bow Wow wrote in the comments section of an Instagram post from The Shade Room. Many agreed with the “Bounce With Me” rapper, writing things like, “They’re definitely back together,” “As long as she don’t let him waste another 10 years of her life. I’m here for it,” and “I think that we all just want them to get married already.”
Apart from Ashanti, Nelly has dated several other women over his career.
Nelly dated fellow rapper Eve for several years in the early 2000s, and was also briefly connected to Kelly Rowland and Claudia Jordan during that period. In 2005, he entered a roughly 10-year relationship with Ashanti, and that relationship reportedly ended in part because Nelly was cheating with actress Leshontae Howard.
In 2014, he entered his most recent long-term relationship, with Shantel Jackson. The two dated for 7 years, and only announced their breakup in the summer of 2021. It is yet to be seen whether the recent rumours regarding Nelly and Ashanti are true, but fans are certainly excited about the possibility.
