The actor behind the voice of Olaf in the Disney movie Frozen, Josh Gad, recently spoke against the racist reaction with respect to Disney’s upcoming adaptation of “The Little Mermaid”.

Gad called the responses “broken and pathetic” in his interview with Variety. People have criticized the casting of the black actress Halle Bailey in the lead role of Ariel.

Many other critics have taken it to social media as well expressing their disappointment and anger over this casting decision. They say that the black actress could not accurately portray the character that is loved so much. Some even called this racism towards white actresses.

Josh Gad said, “I think it is a broken and pathetic way of thinking, and it’s unfortunate that we still have to have these conversations. We should be celebrating the fact that we have a talented young, black actress who is going to play Ariel. It’s a huge step forward for diversity and representation in Hollywood.”
