Nashville shooting victims: A shootout at a school in Nashville has taken everyone aback. The horrendous attack by a shooter who went overboard, opening fire on staff and children has caused havoc all over the hearts and minds of those in the neighborhood.
The unfortunate incident led to the demise of three children and three staff members being shot dead.
The shooter suffered a similar fate being fatally shot by the police who appeared at the crime scene almost immediately. The Covenant’s School in the Green Hills area of Nashville was supposed to be a target as reported by the preliminary investigation reports.
The church building of the school was set as a target, but the information about the individual meant to be shot hasn’t seen the light of the day as of yet. On being asked, Don Aaron, the director of media relations reported, “We have no evidence that individuals were specifically targeted,”
He added, “This school, this church building was a target of the shooter, but we have no information at present to indicate that the shooter was specifically targeting any one of the six individuals who were murdered.“
The suspicion the shooting was pre-planned was raised by an investigative raid at the shooter’s residence, which led to the discovery of pointing shreds of evidence, yet not revealed by the police. The possible reasons quoted only speak of resentment on the shooter’s part toward the school.
A manifesto was discovered with drawings and diagrams of planning the shooting inside the school premises. All children killed belong to the age group of 9-year-olds named Evelyn Dieckhaus, Hallie Scruggs, and William Kinney. The staff members who lost their lives are 61-year-old Mike Hill and Cynthia Peak along with 60-year-old Katherine Koonce.
The reported choice of weapons includes “AR-style weapons- a rifle and a pistol, along with a handgun”. “The shooter had been hiding several weapons within the house,” said Nashville Police Chief John Drake.
Following the unfortunate incident, a cry against the safety concern has filled the streets of Nashville, attracting prayers and strength from all around the world.
