This is all the information you need to know regarding the locations used for Outer Banks Season 3 filming.
The whole plot of Outer Banks season 3 was inspired by the Barbados filming of the season in early 2022. In an interview with Entertainment Weekly, showrunner Josh Pate explained how the El Dorado treasure hunt “opened up” while filming on Barbados.
He said, “Shooting in Barbados in season 2 really opened up some ideas from people that we met and stories that we heard. Then it dovetailed into the mythology that we had for the adventure story this season. It explores an earlier pocket of history than the Antebellum stuff that was tied to the mythology of the Royal Merchant Gold, and it ties back into different cultures from South America.”
Because of North Carolina’s anti-LGBTQ law, house Bill 2, which requires transgender people to use public restrooms that match their biological identity rather than the one they identify themselves, they had to choose a different location for the season’s filming. As a result, other seasons of Outer Banks were shot in South Carolina.
Together with the other Pogue buddies, John B. has been on the lookout for treasure since the first episode. Having had the Cameron family’s homicidal father and son at their backs and Carla Limbrey’s imposing presence, this group has faced many challenges. Outer Banks two is about the younger generation searching for and finding the Cross of Santo Domingo. It was only in the end that they could defeat the Camerons. Having escaped death by jumping from ships, they settle on a lonely island.
John B’s father also played a prominent role in the second season, offering Carla assistance to find the Shroud of Turin in exchange for helping his son. The Outer Banks Season 2 finale raised many issues and concerns. There is, therefore, high hope that the third season will bring everything to a close.
The official synopsis for season 3 is as follows, “After losing the gold and fleeing the Outer Banks, Season 3 finds the Pogues washed ashore on a desert island that, for a brief moment, seems like an idyllic home. Officially deemed “Poguelandia,” the island’s newest residents spend their days fishing, swimming, and reveling in the carefree lifestyle of their temporary dwelling. But things quickly go south for John B, Sarah, Kiara, Pope, JJ, and Cleo when they find themselves once again caught up in a race for the treasure, quite literally running for their lives.
They’re broke and far from home, they can’t trust anyone, Ward and Rafe are hungry for revenge, and there’s a ruthless Caribbean Don who will stop at nothing to find the bounty. Was the treasure ever within their reach? Or was it all a trap to stop them once and for all? Either way, it’s the Pogues against the world – and the only way out is together.“
