A tragic accident saw 9th grader Wesley Welling die a premature death on Tuesday. The news of the demise has had California grieving, and his family have since opened a GoFundMe to celebrate Wesley’s life and mourn his death.
The description of the GoFundMe is written by the organiser Eric Paul, and states Wesley’s mother Kelly Welling as the beneficiary. The description reads: “Our beloved Wesley recently passed on 04-18-2023. Wesley was a wonderful son, brother, friend. Who touched the lives of those around him. Wesley was a 9th grade student at Westlake High School in Southern California.”
“On 4-18-2023 Wesley was waiting for a bus home from Westlake High School, he was excited to celebrate his mother’s birthday with her that day, when he and 3 others were struck by a driver who had committed multiple crimes that day throughout multiple cities in Ventura County. Wesley succumbed to his injuries shortly after the accident.”
“We are all devastated by Wesley’s loss and his family is not prepared for this. I am currently asking for donations to help his family in their time of need and support. All donations will be given directly to his mother, Kelly Welling.”

The GoFundMe has raised over $211,279 so far, and is well ahead of its goal of $15,000.
Over 3200 people have donated to the GoFundMe in a day, taking the total amount of money donated up to more than $200,000. The total amount of money raised has eclipsed the initial goal of $15,000 by a lot, and continues to grow by the hour.
Many people also left messages along with their donations, stating their miseries and condolences to the grieving family. While one message read “We are all so devastated by this unimaginable tragedy. Our thoughts and prayers go out to your family at this very difficult time”, another read “Our son is a sophomore at Westlake and we were all deeply affected by this tragedy. Sending you all the love you need to get through this.”
