When does the Mandalorian series take place in the Star Wars timeline?

The Mandalorian has been a smash hit amongst old Star Wars fans as well as the newer ones since it was released. The Disney+ series tells the tale of Din Djarin, a bounty hunter and one of the few remaining Mandalorians in the galaxy. The show is one of the few Star Wars live-action productions to take place between the original trilogy and the recent sequel trilogy.

So where exactly does the Mandalorian fit in the Star Wars timeline?
