Kendricks went to Herbert Hoover High School in Fresno, California, and played linebacker, quarterback, running back, kicker, and punter for coach Pat Plummer, earning three letters and serving as team captain his junior and senior years. As a sophomore in 2007, he played on the same team as his brother. As a junior in 2008, he was named first-team All-league defence and had 85 tackles, two sacks, and 10 offensive touchdowns.
