College Career
Evan Engram was selected to be the first team of the SEC by consensus. He caught 162 passes for 2,320 yards throughout his four years at Ole Miss, an average of 14.3 yards per catch. His career touchdown total was 15. In the 2014 Egg Bowl, he had five receptions for 176 yards, including one for 83 yards. Engram’s 926 yards and eight touchdowns on 65 receptions during his final season at Ole Miss earned him the Conerly Trophy.
He held the record for the most tight end touchdown catches (15), receiving yards (2,320), and receptions (162) in Ole Miss history. NFL Career
In the first round (number 23 overall) of the 2017 NFL Draft, the New York Giants picked Engram. The Tampa Bay Buccaneers selected O. J. Howard with the 19th overall pick, making him the second tight end selected in the draft. Engram was chosen to improve a Giants tight end core that had only caught three touchdown passes the year before. On June 15, 2017, the Giants agreed to a four-year, $10.71 million contract with Engram. It has a $5.93 million signing bonus and is fully guaranteed. In the New York Giants’ season-opening matchup against the Dallas Cowboys, he made his first career start and regular season debut as well as four receptions for 44 yards in a 19-3 loss.
Eli Manning’s opening throw of the game, a three-yard pass, occurred in the first quarter, and this was Engram’s first-ever reception before being tackled by Sean Lee of the Cowboys. In 15 games, 11 starts, 64 receptions for 722 receiving yards, and six touchdowns, he concluded the season in 2017. The fifth-year option on Engram’s contract, worth $6.013 million fully guaranteed for the 2021 season, was picked up by the Giants on April 29, 2020. Engram suffered during the season, recording eleven drops that resulted in three turnovers and lost the Giants two touchdowns while being selected to his first Pro Bowl with 63 receptions for 654 yards and a touchdown. Engram had a difficult season in 2021, missing the first two games of the year due to a calf injury. He finished the year with 46 receptions for 408 yards and three touchdowns in 15 games.
Engram agreed to a one-year, $9 million deal with the Jacksonville Jaguars on March 16, 2022. Engram’s first touchdown as a Jaguar came in Week 8’s 21-17 loss to the Denver Broncos.
