Why signing Malcom could work wonders for Everton next season

According to a report by Sky Sports, Everton have initiated talks with Bordeaux regarding a possible summer transfer for Malcom. The report further states that the French club’s chairman Stephane Martin is expected to meet the Toffees’ representatives this week to negotiate further.

For now, a deal in the region of £30million is reportedly on the table, which includes add-ons over five years worth £80,000-a-week. Malcom garnered a lot of attention for his performances last season but it looks like Everton are in pole position to land him.

At 21 years of age, Malcom is absolutely electrifying on the wings. His preferred position is the right-wing but over the course of the previous campaign, he was also utilized as a No.10 behind the striker. Blessed with terrifying pace, creativity and a keen eye for the goal, there is little Malcom cannot do. His stats speak volumes of his abilities as the youngster scored 12 goals and provided 7 assists in 35 Ligue 1 appearances in the last term.

He is a tad weak when it comes to aerial encounters and defensive contributions but that is hardly a deal-breaker. When it comes to attacking prowess, Malcom can do it all. He excels at long-range shots while his passing and dribbling skills are quite impeccable.

He can hold onto the ball even in the toughest situations, often utilizing his tricky footwork to bamboozle defenders and then surging forward. Malcom is a powerful attacker and he could work wonders for Everton with Marco Silva at the helm.

That said, he is far from the finished product right now. After all, the 21-year-old is yet to make his debut for the Brazil national team but if he continues progressing at this rate, his future looks immensely bright.

Paying £30million for a player of Malcom’s calibre is quite economical as well, particularly in today’s inflated transfer market. Also, given his skills and potential, he already seems like an upgrade when compared to other wide forwards at Goodison Park.

Hence, if Everton are able to pull this deal off, it will be nothing short of a coup. The club also have the likes of Gylfi Sigurdsson, Theo Walcott, Cenk Tosun and Ademola Lookman in the squad. With Malcom in the mix, Everton will successfully build a fearsome attack that could rip apart teams in the Premier League next season.
