According to a report from TUTTOmercatoWEB, Everton have had a £24.8 million bid for Cengiz Under rejected by Roma, with the Serie A giants demanding more for the Turkish winger.
Cengiz Under, 21, has been one of the bright sparks for AS Roma in an otherwise disappointing campaign in the Serie A. The Turkish speedster is a prodigious talent and his exploits in Italy have caught the attention of Everton, who will look to challenge the ‘Big Six’ next term.
And for that to happen, the Toffees boss Marco Silva should return with an improved offer for Cengiz Under.
Everton impressed in the second half of the campaign of the 2018/19 campaign, with Silva’s men drawing against Merseyside rivals Liverpool and winning against the likes of Manchester United and Arsenal. The Royal Blues made Goodison Park a fortress in 2019 which made it very difficult for teams to come and get a positive result, especially the bigger ones.
Now the Merseyside outfit must look to build on a steady first season under Silva. The Portuguese tactician needs to add more pace, flair and goals to his attack and Under would be ideal on the right side of his attack.
Theo Walcott has not fulfilled the expectations at Goodison Park since joining from Arsenal last year and at 30, he has lost a yard of pace as well. The former England international scored just five times in 37 league games, which is an underwhelming return from a player who is highly experienced at the top level.
With Walcott failing to impress, Silva should upgrade the right wing position by signing Under. The 21-year-old is a sublime talent that can play anywhere across the forward line and would bring plenty of pace, zest and dynamism to Silva’s side. The Turkish international can make some dangerous runs when dribbling with the ball from wide areas which makes him such a potent threat in the opposition half.
A good passer of the ball, Under is a pretty handy wide-man, who is fantastic on the ball and never shies away from taking on his man and beating him with his burst of pace. Bernard and Richarlison have impressed this past season and the Turkish ace would complement them perfectly.

He also fits Silva’s model of talented young players and will work with them closely to build a very good team.
Under will undoubtedly bring a lot of goals and assists to the Goodison Park. That’s what Everton need more than anything at the moment, and it’s an ability that they’ve certainly missed.
