Everton Opinion: Why Wissam Ben Yedder will be a good fit for the Toffees?
According to a report from Football Espana, Manchester United are keeping tabs on Sevilla star Wissam Ben Yedder ahead of a summer swoop.
Ben Yedder, 28, has been in smashing form for Sevilla this season, banging 26 goals across all competitions including five in his last three appearances, with a hat-trick against Real Sociedad last week.
The forward’s prolific form in front of goal has attracted Manchester United, who have been a transformed side since Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s appointment last December. Despite having an array of attacking talent in the squad, the Red Devils appear to be interested in Ben Yedder.
But Everton should also start keeping tabs on the French striker and beat United to his signature in the summer.
Everton have struggled royally to score goals this season, with the likes of Cenk Tosun and Dominic Calvert-Lewin failing to deliver the goods consistently. With the strikers failing to find the net on a regular basis, Marco Silva has used summer signing Richarlison up top.
Richarlison has scored 11 Premier League goals for the Toffees since his summer arrival from Watford but he looks more suited to a role on the left than through the middle. With the move of using Richarlison up top failing to pay off of late, Silva should start planning on bringing in a new centre-forward in the summer.
And going for the diminutive Ben Yedder, who has netted 26 goals in all competitions till date this season, could turn out to be a good move for Everton.
Ben Yedder is a fast, agile, intelligent and technical-gifted striker who can rip apart defences with his movement and guile. He works read hard off the ball and loves to drop deep in midfield to bring the other forwards in the game. The Frenchman has dazzling feet and technique which he uses to combine play and score goals.
The 28-year-old is a deadly finisher inside the box, known for his predatory instincts and ability to pick out the right positions in the final third. Apart from his clinical nature in front of goal, Ben Yedder’s decision-making and awareness in the attacking third is also of the highest quality. He is someone who can create opportunities as well as finish off chances with ease.
The former Toulouse man also possesses a lot of flair and that combined with his work rate and agility makes him the perfect man for Everton.
Conclusion
A team player through and through, Ben Yedder, however, could struggled with the pace and intensity of the Premier League. But with time and patience, he could turn out to be a smart investment for Everton.
