Arsenal player ratings vs Everton: Who impressed for the Gunners?

Arsenal continued their winning run in the Premier League and worked their way into the top six with a hard-fought 2-0 win over Everton at the Emirates. Unai Emery’s men also registered their first clean sheet of the season, courtesy a brilliant shift between the sticks by goalkeeper Petr Cech.

Everton had multiple chances to score in the first half but Petr Cech was at the top of his game to deny Richarlison twice. After a goalless first half, Arsenal took the lead early in the first half as Alexandre Lacazette scored his second goal of the season with a thunderous strike past Jordan Pickford.

Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang doubled the lead within three minutes to put Arsenal comfortably in the driver’s seat. Everton tried to forge a comeback but Arsenal held on to their lead for a fourth consecutive win.

Arsenal player ratings

Petr Cech (8.5/10)

The veteran had a great day and was at the top of his game to deny Everton several times in both halves. He seemed comfortable with his handling and had an impressive game overall.

Hector Bellerin (7/10)

The Spaniard threw caution to the winds with some intelligent runs and played some nice crosses into the box but was often exposed against Richarlison.

Sokratis (6/10)

The Greek centre-back looked quite composed and covered for Mustafi’s blunders before being withdrawn due to an injury.

Shkodran Mustafi (5/10)

Another poor day at the office for the German centre-back. He gave the ball away in dangerous areas and looked wayward with his positioning. Looked somewhat better in the second half as Everton lost control of the game.

Nacho Monreal (7/10)

The Spaniard had a decent game and linked the play effectively down the left with Aubameyang. He impressed with his crossing but was exposed against Theo Walcott’s sharpness. Tested Pickford with a well-drilled effort on goal in the first half.

Granit Xhaka (6/10)

Not a particularly good day for the Swiss international. He lost possession on a few occasions but was quite decent with his passing.

Lucas Torreira (6.5/10)

The Uruguayan had a decent game in the heart of the midfield. He got booked in the first half and looked a bit hesitant to go into challenges but still managed to break up the play and win the balls in the midfield.

Mesut Ozil (5/10)

The German playmaker had a poor day at the office. Although he started the move which led to Aubameyang’s goal, he was wasteful with some good opportunities. Furthermore, he was wayward with passing and lost the ball way easily.

Aaron Ramsey (7.5/10)

The Welshman had another good day in the final third. He linked the play with his teammates with short and quick passes and set up Lacazette for the first goal. Worked hard and had a good game on the whole.

Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang (7/10)

He had a decent game but was a bit lucky to not be flagged offside for the goal. Regardless, he was lively as ever in the final third and showed intent to make things happen.

Alexandre Lacazette (8/10)

The Frenchman registered his second goal of the season with a brilliant strike to beat Pickford. He was a bit sloppy and careless in the first half but used his physicality to shield the ball and linked the play effectively with his teammates.

Substitutes

Rob Holding (6.5/10)

He came on for the injured Sokratis and did a good job in the heart of the defence.

Alex Iwobi (6/10)

The Nigerian came on for Aubameyang and added some energy to the forward line. He often got involved in the play and impressed with his movement.

Danny Welbeck (N/A)

Came on late and did not have time to make an impact.
