Liverpool Player Ratings vs Fulham in the Premier League
Liverpool extended their unbeaten run in the Premier League to twelve games in a row with a comfortable 2-0 win over Fulham at Anfield. Mohamed Salah broke the deadlock just at the stroke of halftime, capping off a wonderful counter-attack with a clinical finish to put the home side in the driver’s seat.
Xherdan Shaqiri doubled the advantage for the Reds in the early stages of the second half Liverpool had multiple chances thereafter to make the margin of victory more comprehensive.
Fulham showed a lot of resilience for the first forty minutes or so but Slavisa Jokanovic will be a worried man after his team suffered their seventh consecutive defeat in the Premier League.
Liverpool Player Ratings
1. Alisson (7/10)
Did not have too much to do but made a fine save to keep out a venomous effort from Schurrle in the first half.
2. Trent Alexander-Arnold (6.5/10)
Showed some improvement from his shaky display in the Champions League. Comfortable in possession and showed good presence of mind to initiate the counter-attack with a perfect pass to set up the first goal; solid outing overall.
3. Virgil van Dijk (6.5/10)
He looked comfortable in possession but almost cost his team a goal with a lapse in concentration when he let Sessegnon run through the defence.
4. Joe Gomez (6.5/10)
Wasn’t called into action too often as Liverpool dominated possession but showed poor awareness to allow Sessegnon and Schurrle to run into spaces.
5. Andrew Robertson (8/10)
A wonderful display from the Scotsman. Linked-up the play very effectively with Mane down the left and played some good crosses into the penalty area; cut out the attacks with crucial interceptions and arguably Liverpool’s standout performer of the game.
6. Fabinho (7/10)
He seems to be growing in confidence with each passing game; looked very confident with his passing and ball distribution; made some good interceptions and dictated the tempo on the game in the midfield.
7. Georginio Wjnaldum (6.5/10)
A tidy performance from the Dutchman; didn’t make too many mistakes and linked-up the play well with his teammates up front.
8. Xherdan Shaqiri (7.5/10)
He has really stepped up his game in recent weeks. Another lively performance by the Swiss international; he played some good passes in the final third, was a bit wayward with his shooting in the first half but showed good tactical awareness to get on the end of Robertson’s cross for the second goal.
9. Sadio Mane (7/10)
Made some powerful runs down the left and linked up very well with Robertson down the left; got into good positions in the final third and tested the goalkeeper with a venomous shot in the second half.
10. Roberto Firmino (7.5/10)
Showed that he is a perfect fit for the No.10 role; drew the defenders out from their positions with his intelligence and played some delightful passes to set his teammates into free spaces.
11. Mohamed Salah (8/10)
Had a chance to open the scoring early in the game but was denied by Sergio Rico. Combined very well with Firmino and capped off a brilliant counter-attack with a clinical finish.
