Jon Jones gave up his UFC Light Heavyweight title to move a division up in hopes of getting the belt
The Schmozone podcast had one of the biggest names in MMA with Ali Abdelaziz sharing thoughts on several big issues.
The Egyptian, head of Dominance MMA, spoke about several of his clients but also opened up on some legends of the sport.
One of those was Jon Jones. The American vacated the UFC Light Heavyweight title and moved up to the Heavyweight one.
Jones is considered as one of the greatest MMA stars of all-time but plans on picking up the belt. The Schmo asked what was next for Jones and Abdelaziz claimed that he would fight for the title but not against Stipe Miocic.
“Jon can do whatever the f*** he wants. He is the GOAT.
“I think Francis Ngannou is going to fight Stipe. I think Jon will put on some weight and fight the winner.”
Abdelaziz added that there would never be another Jones in the world. He added that Jones was misunderstood and Bones had done a lot of great things for the people of Albuquerque.
Jan Blachowicz picked up the vacant Light Heavyweight title at UFC 253. He defeated Dominick Reyes with an incredible performance and called out Jones for a fight.
However, Abdelaziz claimed that this fight wouldn’t do much for Jones and it would be better for Bones to fight in the Heavyweight one.
Abdelaziz still wanted another legend to face off against the new Light Heavyweight champion and named Daniel Cormier as the fight that Blachowicz deserved:
“I would like to see DC cut down to 205 and fight Jan Blachowicz. Jan Blachowicz deserves a legend like DC.”
Abdelaziz also had a word of warning for Blachowicz as he believed DC could defeat the champion.
Cormier is a former Heavyweight and Light Heavyweight champion in the UFC but retired after losing to Miocic in a title clash at UFC 252.
