Brok Weaver got his first UFC win via a DQ but he doesn’t count that as a victory in his books
UFC Lightweight star Brok Weaver was speaking exclusively to MMA Unhinged about his future plans after a recent loss.
The 28-year-old lost his second UFC fight to Roosevelt Roberts and now has an MMA record of 15-5.
Weaver, however, won his first fight in the promotion when he got the win over Rodrigo Vargas. That wasn’t straightforward as Weaver picked up the W after his opponent was disqualified for an illegal knee.
The 28-year-old was asked if that first fight felt like a win, but Weaver wanted to get a real win as quickly as possible:
“No, No, I don’t take that as a win. To me, I am 0-2. Out here training to get better and get my hand raised man.
“That’s what I am yet to experience, my hand raised properly in a UFC fight.”
The second fight also had some drama involved with Roberts and Weaver having issues before the fight.
However, Weaver explained what all took place before their clash. He highlighted a terrible weight cut where he lost 30 pounds in nine days. He also took the fight on short notice and claimed the UFC doctors wanted him to back out of the fight since he was cramping up.
Weaver added that he was risking acute kidney failure but he didn’t make excuses and still went ahead with the fight.
He added that Roberts defeated him easily and even if he backed out of this clash, he would have gotten paid the same as he did for getting into the Octagon.
Weaver, however, is looking forward to more fights and is currently training with ATT, and they are pushing him hard to reach the next level.
