Calvin Kattar spoke up on how training with the Diaz brothers was an eye-opener for him

Calvin Kattar was the latest guest on the Schmozone as the UFC star opened up on several topics.

However, Kattar had a lot to share about other UFC stars. He was asked about which stars he loved watching fight and named a legend in Chuck Liddell.

He also spoke about how training with the Diaz brothers, Nick and Nate, was an eye-opener for him:

“Originally it was Chuck Liddell and then Nick Diaz and Nate Diaz. I am a fan of the Diazs. I actually got a chance to train with them back in the day after going into my third fight.

“I was probably 19 or something like that. It blew my mind, out there, West Coast training and that lifestyle, I brought as much of it as I could back home with me and started just changing the way I was training up.

“My gym at the time was only open like 6 PM to 8 PM and when I went out there I see 6-7-year-olds shrimping at the mat at like 8-9 AM, it was just another level.”

The Diaz brothers are two of the greatest names in the UFC and Kattar added that he made a few adjustments to his training after seeing the pair.

DC still has a few years in him

Brock Lesnar joining the UFC was another discussion held during the podcast. Lesnar is a former UFC Champion and is also a free agent at the moment. His WWE contract ran out and there have been calls of him joining the UFC or even Bellator.

While Kattar was asked about this, he highlighted the case of Daniel Cormier. has retired from the UFC after losing his last fight, a title bout to Stipe Miocic.

However, Kattar was adamant that DC could continue and also get a title shot:

“I still think Cormier has got a good amount of fight and could do in him if he wanted to but he’s just, I think he’s had enough. He could still earn another title shot, if he wanted to.”

While DC plans for a career outside the UFC Octagon, it will be interesting to see what happens next with Lesnar.
