Dustin Poirier vs Conor McGregor is one huge fight at UFC 257 and another prediction came in
Cody Garbrandt was the latest guest to feature on the Schmozone as he spoke about his decision to face Jose Aldo soon.
Garbrandt has also spoken about fighting Deiveson Figueiredo for the Flyweight title and he was keen to take up any fight that came next.
While Garbrandt was also keen on the Bantamweight crown that Petr Yan held, he was asked about the upcoming UFC 257 main event.
Conor McGregor vs Dustin Poirier is going to be a huge fight and Garbrandt was pushed to share a prediction.
The UFC star claimed that this was a different fight when compared to the meeting almost seven years back:
“It is such a different fight from when they fought the first time.
“Dustin is as game as they come, they don’t breed Dustin Poiriers any more. That dude is like, ‘I am down to be covered in blood’, to be beat up, so tired and gasping for air but keep coming.
“McGregor is at a different point in his life too that he has to win this fight. He wants to get back to the top, he understands what is at stake, yeah he knocked him out from whatever long ago.”
Garbrandt added that both fighters were different from the last time they met. The pair had grown but McGregor wanted the win to get closer to the title.
Poirier, for his part, could redeem himself and is coming off a great win over Dan Hooker as well.
Garbrandt brought up that both fighters would showcase their “warrior spirit” in the fight and it was going to be an awesome clash.
He didn’t want to give a prediction but he was pushed by the Schmo to share what could happen in the fight.
Garbrandt claimed that McGregor would win the fight if it was short. However, Poirier had a better chance the longer the fight went on:
“I think if Conor beats him it will be early on. If it is later in the rounds, I think, I just think, I don’t know why Poirier will pull it off.”
